W.H. Beck

A Griffin native, Mr. Beck served in World War I as a member of Georgia’s National Guard Unit, and he commanded a combat unit in France.  After returning to Griffin and entering the practice of law, Mr. Beck held several prestigious posts, including division council for Central of Georgia Railway, director at the Commercial Bank and Trust Company, city court judge, and chairman of the City Commission.  Mr. Beck’s involvement in the Griffin community included serving as the president of the Rotary Club of Griffin, a deacon of First Baptist Church, a Mason, and an American Legion leader.
