Jim Fortune is an AV rated attorney who has practiced law with Beck, Owen and Murray since 1971. Mr. Fortune is an experienced general practice attorney, and has practiced in the areas of civil litigation, probate and estates, domestic relations, real estate, local government law and criminal law. He currently represents Spalding County, Georgia, the Griffin-Spalding Development Authority and is actively engaged in civil litigation for insurance companies and individuals across the State of Georgia in State and Federal court.
Mr. Fortune graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1969, where he was a member of Law Review. Following graduation he served two years in the United States Army and was an Infantry Officer in the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Among his awards while in Vietnam were the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and Army Commendation Medal for achievement.
Mr. Fortune has served as President of the Exchange Club, the Rotary Club of Griffin and Goals for Griffin. He served as a State Representative in the Georgia General Assembly from 1979 to 1982. He is an active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church where he has served as Senior Warden of the Vestry.
